How do I carve Fatwood?

IMG_0211.JPG

The Fatwood I bring home from the pine barrens to my shop is first wire-brushed to remove dirt.

It is then stacked to dry.

Depending on the piece of wood and on my mood that day, I will either carve faces out of the wood, or I’ll rip it on my saw for stock wood to be used for the other creations I make.

Carving with knives or rotary tools is something I love to do... honestly its an obsession.
